Position Overview

COREsight is a Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) platform that fuses satellite imagery (SAR, optical), AIS vessel tracking, and RF signal detection into a real-time analyst environment used by government and defence customers, including an active NATO‑affiliated deployment. We are scaling COREsight into a multi-tenant commercial product, and we need a front-end developer who can help build the analyst-facing tools that make sense of geospatial data.

You’ll work directly with the analyst UI — map-based target detection, vessel correlation, RF pipeline visualization, and satellite tasking workflows — reporting to the Director, COREsight, and collaborating closely with backend developers on the data pipelines that feed your interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain React/TypeScript components for the COREsight analyst platform, including map-based target editing, AIS controls, and detection review workflows
  • Work with Mapbox/MapLibre to render vessel tracks, satellite footprints, and geospatial overlays at scale
  • Implement UI for satellite tasking workflows spanning multiple providers (RCM, Sentinel, ICEYE, and others) behind a unified interface
  • Translate complex domain concepts (target confidence scoring, staleness models, vessel correlation) into clear, usable analyst tooling
  • Build with Chakra UI v3 within an established design system (dark theme, defence/intelligence-oriented visual language)
  • Collaborate with backend developers on API contracts for real-time and near-real-time data (WebSocket/polling patterns for live target updates)
  • Participate in code review and contribute to front-end architecture decisions as the platform scales to multiple customers

Desired Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional experience with React and TypeScript in production applications
  • Experience building data-dense, interactive UIs (dashboards, mapping tools, or similar) — mapping/geospatial library experience (Mapbox, MapLibre, Leaflet, or similar) is a strong asset
  • Comfort working with REST APIs and asynchronous, real-time, or near-real-time data
  • Solid CSS/component architecture skills; experience with a component library (Chakra UI, MUI, or similar)
  • Ability to work independently against specifications and ask sharp clarifying questions rather than guessing
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret-level security clearance
  • Experience with geospatial data formats (GeoJSON, STAC) or Earth observation/satellite imagery products (asset)
  • Familiarity with maritime domain concepts (AIS, vessel tracking) or defence/government software environments (asset)
  • Experience with WorkOS or similar auth/multi-tenancy systems (asset)
  • Exposure to Postgres/PostGIS-backed applications (asset)
